We chose Anne Sullivan after receiving excellent personal recommendations, reading the reviews here and elsewhere, touring the facility, and meeting the school administrator/teachers. We were quite impressed upon enrolling our child at 2 years 9 months (the minimum age required by the school). As previous reviewers said, the grounds are spacious, and provide an excellent opportunity for your child to connect with nature.
The school is one of only two NAEYC preschools within a ten-mile radius. Huge play areas and natural surroundings, including 2 playgrounds, a garden, and nature walk areas. There is a structured curriculum, although they promote learning through play - and my child generally seems very happy here. Last year, he was in the Rainbow Room, and the lead teacher there is great (we did have some concern with the patience of one of the assistant teachers, but that person is no longer at the school). When he had trouble transitioning this year to the new class with new friends, the teachers took time to acknowledge and validate his feelings and wrote me "notes" from my child's perspective about his feelings. This allowed me to engage in a dialogue with my child and eased the transition into the new classroom.
I would highly recommend Anne Sullivan Preschool. The teachers are wonderful, patient, and communicative.
