We want to start the New Year thanking our Community partners for their many contributions in helping us maintain our school as one of the best educational settings in the Temecula Valley. Over the years, Anne Sullivan Preschool and Kindergarten has worked with various agencies, institutions and professionals to better educate the children who attend the school.
First 5 Riverside, the Riverside County Children & Family Commission has funded various improvements at Anne Sullivan School. Funded by the state tobacco tax generated by Proposition 10, First Five Riverside helped finance the construction of the Butterfly and Ladybug Rooms, as well as the adjoining play yard in 2010.
Mount San Jacinto College has partnered with Anne Sullivan School for more than 20 years. Anne Sullivan School is a site for MSJC students to complete their student teaching requirement to earn a AA in Early Childhood Education. The college has trained and has an ongoing program for the Anne Sullivan mentor teachers. Excellent mentor coordinators encourage the mentor teachers to maintain a program and activities which are developmentally appropriate.
Maggie Ikezaki, Grant Writer and Coach has worked with the school since 2010 when she wrote the grant to First Five Riverside. Besides this grant, she has written many other grants for teacher training and for attendance to national and state conferences. Maggie has also helped implement the Creative Curriculum by holding several workshops and individually coaching in the classroom. In addition, Maggie and her husband Gil have donated money to purchase computers/tablets for didactic aides to develop the study topics.
Sandi Schwartz, consultant and parenting advisor, has held Parenting Classes at for Anne Sullivan families every year since 2011. She coaches parents and teachers in empathic communication with children. Sandi has helped many families to understand their children stages and what their behavior indicates in terms of psychological needs. Her book Authentic Parenting Power shows the deep respect and understanding she has for all parents in their most important job of raising their children with love and compassion.
Laurie Schoenberg, a Licensed Marriage Family Therapist, specializes in working with children and adolescents with emotional and behavior issues. She supports a family’s specific concern in establishing emotional connections. Her broad and unique experience and training, as well as her personal characteristics, allow her to help the teachers understand and help children who have social, emotional or cognitive difficulties in school and at home.
We finish by expressing gratitude to the NAEYC Academy for Early Childhood Accreditation which, since 1992, has given us the tools, guidance and resources to achieve a high score in all ten standards of quality.
Partnering with so many wonderful professionals has built a true foundation of trust and team work needed to raise confident, creative and responsible children. THANK YOU!
