The staff of Anne Sullivan School are getting ready for the big annual event, Trike-A-Thon 2018! The event will take place Wednesday, April 18, 2018 in the morning. All children are invited to participate, even if they are not scheduled to attend on Wednesday. The time that each classroom will be riding the trikes (or scooters or bikes), and where to leave your child’s tricycle and helmet, will be posted.
The course is around the school buildings, and while it is safe and fun, it is challenging for the younger children.
The funds that the children raise for the St. Jude Trike-A-Thon will help St. Jude Hospital treat the world’s sickest children battling cancer and other life-threatening diseases free of charge. Donations have also helped St. Jude develop protocols that have helped them increase overall survival rates for childhood cancers from less than 20 percent to more than 80 percent today.
A week before the event, the children will be learning not only safety habits with Bikewell Bear and Pedals the Bunny, but also internalizing one way of caring for the children who are sick in the community. The children who participate will have a good time and will develop their muscles for strength and endurance. Everyone wins!
Parent Volunteers are needed to help with the event. A signup sheet for Volunteers will be placed on the sign-in/sign-out clip board in each classroom. In the parent file, in each classroom, parents will find envelopes with information on how to make donations.
